We come to engage and promote the community, support the goals of its members in their career plans in science or industry and help them communicate their research findings.
— Dr Karolina Mirowska, President of Polonium Foundation

At Polonium we not only enable ideas sharing  (see Community) but by drawing on our experience and the needs of community (see Research), we strive to support the community of researchers in three main areas.

Peer-to-peer mentoring programme

Our activities are built to support the community of Polish researchers, enhance their chances of success and give them recognition they deserve. We are currently working on laying foundations of a mentoring scheme between Polish researchers. Through one-to-one conversations and workshops, we hope to enhance inter-community support which can benefit young scientists. If you are interested in entering as a mentor or a mentee, please get in touch with Rafał at mentoring@poloniumfoundation.org

Bridging business and academia

From bringing corporate giants such as the Boston Consulting Group to the SPP conferences, through hosting a panel discussion at Poland Innovative congress, to organising a scientific block at Infoshare, we help to boost the symbiotic relationship between academia and industry. Our success was noticed by the United Nations Global Compact Poland and we are now under the umbrella of its 'Business & Science' programme that fosters relationships between Academia, Industry and the Government.

Getting your science out of the lab

We promote outstanding research of our community members. We believe that work of Polish researchers abroad needs to reach a wider audience in our homeland. We have connected many great scientists with Polish media including, Business Insider Polska, Focus, Gazeta Wyborcza, Polish Press Agency among others! On an international arena we supported Poles taking part in FameLab and 3 Minute Thesis competitions. We also collaborate with Getty Science on popular science publications.

We are open to any other ideas though! For example, in 2016 as a satellite event to the annual SPP conference we've organised a standup comedy night. We have invited 9 scientists of 4 nationalities to perform on the stages of Jericho Tavern in Oxford and well... see yourself what happened!
